Photo A Day - Day 17

Today's theme was texture

Can you guess what it is?

After most of the day I think that I am being a little mean with this one, its not very obvious what it is. So here's a full picture of it:

My Cat Uli kept stealing the fluffy ball of blue wool from my knitting bag, he was also partial to the pink. Even closing the zip wouldn't stop him and I spent endless mornings untangling it from around the house so I decided to knit him his very own toy. He even has a knitted cuddle blankie that he used to carry around with him. Uli says that he is far too grown up for toys now (but he still has the occasional play when he thinks no one is looking).

Dog Bed

There is a lady in my village who has always been part of my extended family - a friend of my Mums.

Recently she got a new puppy and well I have made all her previous dogs a nice bed and it only seemed fair that the new little girl should get her very own bed.

It was made with lovely snuggly fleece - it has been padded with quilt batting so it is completely washable.

I had some lovely butterfly fleece in my box which was the perfect choice for an appliqué initial.

My dog was on hand to test it for snuggliness

And finally all ready to give

Let me know what you think :)

Vintage stitching

I am busy packing for an upcoming move when I re-discovered table cloths, dollies and chair backs all wonderfully hand crafted by my grandmother, great aunt and my own mother.

I would have loved to have spent the afternoon photographing them but well packing, packing and more packing.

So I settled on photographing just one - a preview. I will immerse myself in them when we have moved and settled and share the beautiful work - it deserves to be shared.

They are all Mine Mine Mine :)

But I am thinking that there are just too many for a little mouse and I will breathe new life into them - thinking cushions and quilts....

So here is my little preview delicate pansies, who can not be charmed my these lovely little flowers?

A treasured childhood possession

There are a few items that I could have chosen but most have already been packed away for the up coming move - apart from a little mouse.

I thought that I had lost her in a previous move and was so happy when I found her and ever since she has not been allowed out of my sight (she is very little):

Littlemouse
She was handmade with tiny stitches and given to me by a Nun. Now I cant remember the name of the Nun but it was possibly Sister Joan Mary. What I can tell you is that she was from the Dominican Convent in Kelvedon (closed a long time ago and turned into apartments).

How did a Nun come to give me such a wonderful gift? Well mum was one of their cooks and on school holidays I would cycle or walk from our village to Kelvedon (about 3 miles - I was still at primary school) and I would spend time helping in the kitchen (well mainly sitting at a table drawing). The Nuns would spoil me, now I don't remember when I got it, but I have treasured it for over 20 years and yes you guessed it she inspired my logo.

So you can see just how little she is

Photo A Day - Day 14

Today is the theme of time

I have been wondering what to do and then I came up with this:

XXV.IV.MMIX
The ring is my wedding ring and its sitting in my wedding bouquet (Leather roses from a lovely UK designer http://www.leatherweddingroses.com/).

Now to time:

XXV.IV.MMIX (25 April 2009) - the day Mr Mouse turned 30 and we got married, a day of happiness

April 2010 - year of 1st anniversary and my Mum lost her fight against cancer

April 2011 - year of 2nd anniversary and Mr Mouses Nan went into hospital, we lost her in May

Time it has gone fast, filled with excitement, joy and happiness.
Time it has been uplifting seeing my Mums braveness fight terminal cancer.
Time it has been painful and sad....

Time is healing.

Photo A Day - Day 13

2 ingredients you will use in any meal today

Ok I thought about lying and taking a photo of some ingredients that I was going to cook with - sweetcorn and home grown potatoes.

What was I going to do?

Well cook the 'tatoes stir in a strained can of tuna, some chopped vegs like peppers and a blend of mayo and salad cream, with corn on the cob on the side dripping with butter.

Instead we had something else (mainly because I knew I was going to be a bit late today, and to be honest to tired to cook). So here are my two ingredients:

Car keys to drive the car and purse to pay for it - what did I 'cook'?
1/4 pounder with cheese and salad (me)
1 battered sausage (Mr Mouse)
1 medium piece of cod (Dad)
1 large portion of chips (for everyone to share)
